• कुछ जातियों को ‘पिछड़ा’ बताकर विशेष योजनाएँ घोषित की जाती हैं।

• कुछ को ‘उपेक्षित’ बताकर भावनात्मक मुद्दे उठाए जाते हैं।

• जातिगत भोज, सम्मेलन, रैलियाँ आयोजित कर एकता का दिखावा किया जाता है — जबकि उद्देश्य केवल वोट लेना होता है।

इस खेल में शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, बेरोजगारी, महिला सुरक्षा, किसान संकट जैसे असली मुद्दे पीछे छूट जाते हैं।

ग्रामीण भारत में जाति और चुनाव

गांवों में जाति की पकड़ आज भी बहुत मजबूत है। चुनावों के समय यह और अधिक तेज़ हो जाती है:

• लोग जाति के आधार पर वोट डालते हैं, न कि उम्मीदवार की योग्यता या ईमानदारी के आधार पर।

• एक जाति अगर किसी खास पार्टी को समर्थन दे, तो बाकी जातियाँ विरोध में चली जाती हैं।

• जाति पंचायतें और प्रभावशाली लोग पूरे गाँव के वोट को नियंत्रित करने की कोशिश करते हैं।

इससे लोकतंत्र की आत्मा — व्यक्तिगत स्वतंत्रता और विचार — को गहरी चोट पहुँचती है।

चुनावी घोषणापत्र और जाति

कई राजनीतिक दलों के घोषणापत्रों में जाति आधारित वादे प्रमुख होते हैं:

• नई जातियों को आरक्षण सूची में शामिल करने का वादा

• जातिगत जनगणना कराने का वादा

• किसी खास जाति के नायक की प्रतिमा या स्मारक बनाने की योजना

यह सब जातीय भावनाओं को भड़काने के तरीके हैं। चुनाव के बाद इनमें से कितने वादे पूरे होते हैं — यह एक अलग सवाल है।

समाधान: वोटर की जागरूकता

इस जातिगत राजनीति से बाहर निकलने का एकमात्र रास्ता है वोटर की जागरूकता।

• हमें यह समझना होगा कि जाति नहीं, नीति मायने रखती है।

• जो नेता जाति की बजाय विकास, शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य और ईमानदारी की बात करे — उसे समर्थन देना चाहिए।

• स्कूलों और कॉलेजों में लोकतांत्रिक शिक्षा को बढ़ावा देना चाहिए, जिससे युवा जातिगत सोच से बाहर निकल सकें।

निष्कर्ष

जाति कभी समाज का संगठन थी, लेकिन आज यह चुनावी राजनीति का हथियार बन चुकी है। राजनेता इसे एक ‘गुब्बारे’ की तरह फुलाते हैं, भावनाएँ भरते हैं, और चुनाव जीतते हैं।

लेकिन इस गुब्बारे को फोड़ना अब ज़रूरी है — नहीं तो लोकतंत्र केवल एक संख्या का खेल बन जाएगा, जिसमें आम जनता के असली मुद्दे खो जाएंगे।
